How to add a user to google play store account

In cases where an account is being developed by more than one developer, it is always recommended that each has access to the google play store so that whenever there are new updates that need to be uploaded, anyone can do them.

Also, in cases where the google play store is owned by the company or the owner of the app who does not know or has no interest in uploading and managing applications, the best way is to add a developer to the google play account who will be responsible for uploading applications.

For this article, we shall cover how you can add a developer to a google play account or how you can add a user to the google developer account. We shall highlight what is required, the roles that you can assign to the user, and also what the user added to the google developer account cannot do.

How to add a new user to google play developer account

You must be the owner of the google play developer account if you want to add a new user to the account

Follow the steps below to add a new user to the google play developer account;

Visit the google play developer account using this link https://play.google.com/console/u/0/developers
At this step, you will be provided with options to choose which account you want to access if you have logged in to your google account and also if you have one or more accounts

Click the play store account you want to add a new user to
You will be directed to the dashboard of the account you have selected where you will have a view of the current apps that are published through this account
In the left sidebar, click users and permissions

On this screen, you will have a list of users who have already been added to this account and the status of their accounts

To add a new user, you cannot add the user without their consent and approval. Click the invite new users button on the right of users and permissions
A new screen will appear where you will be required to enter the email address of the user whom you want to add to your google play developer account
Add the email address of the user and do not check the set access expiry date since when it is checked it will give the user a limited time in the google play developer account

Next, you will be required to select the app which you want to use to access and manage when he is added to the google play developer account. If you are adding the user to a specific app, select that app only but if all, you can check all the apps
In the app permissions, click add app, and the apps published will be loaded, select one or all depending on the access level of the user

Click apply once you have selected the app or apps
A new modal will popup which will require you to set the access permissions for the app, if you want to grant the user all privileges to the app, select admin if not check the permissions one by one

Click apply once you have set the app roles
Next, you will be required to set the account permissions for the user. Note the difference between these permissions and the above are that the above permissions were for the app you selected but these permissions are account permissions

To grant all permissions of the account to the user, click admin else select specific roles depending on the user type

Click invite user
On the confirmation modal that pops up click send invite
Once the invite is sent, the list of users will be updated and the one you have sent the invitation to will be as follows

Let the user open the email where you have sent the invitation link and follow the instructions
The user once he clicks the invitation link from the email will be required to accept all the terms and then click accept the invite

Once done, he will have access to the google play developer account whereby he will be able to access and manage the apps that are assigned to him and also have privileges and permissions as granted

Please note, the only thing that the invited user cannot do even if having the admin access rights is that have direct communication with the google play store support team without the owner of the account being tagged along in the communication
